Application processing

Our policies and procedures for admissions, recruitment and widening access are clear, transparent and readily available electronically, or by hard copy upon request.

Each application is reviewed against our entry criteria for the course applied to. Our entry criteria can be found on the course pages on our website. We will look at applicants’ predicted and achieved grades, reference and personal statement. We will also consider any relevant work experience. After our initial assessment, an applicant may be asked to attend an interview and/or sit our internal assessments. This enables us to ensure that we are making offers based on the most suitable course to suit their experience, skills and aspirations. Where appropriate to do so, we may recommend an alternative course, or one with a foundation year, to ensure our students have the best possible start. We will discuss this in detail with the applicant, if applicable.

For an international applicant, we may require more information and extra documents. We may also require them to attend a pre-CAS interview before we can issue them with a CAS to make their visa application. Please visit our International Students page for more details.

We are committed to providing fair access to higher education for those who demonstrate the potential to succeed on our courses. Through our Admissions Policy, and its application, we focus on those with the ‘potential to succeed’. We are known for our deep commitment to widening participation and we actively encourage applications from those who may not previously have considered higher education as an option.
