Umair Farooq

I am currently a Senior Lecturer with industry and teaching experience of over 18 years. Prior to this role, I spent 10 years working on various projects from management information systems to content management systems.

I started my career in 2000 as a Software Engineer and later served the key roles of senior software engineer, project manager, operations manager and general manager of operations, prior to becoming director operations in 2007. Where my focus was on customers, innovation, operational-efficiency, and project-management that led to significant company growth. Throughout my career, I helped large number of clients across a broad range of businesses to use IT more effectively, improve process efficiency, and make better decisions by turning business data into meaningful information. I joined Bloomsbury Institute in 2012, bringing around 15 years of industrial experience to my role with the institution. In my career, I designed various internship-programs and taught several modules in computing and business-management.

For me, the love of innovative-technologies was instantaneous and everlasting. I turned my passion into a career as Director Operations, started as a software engineer back in 2000. In these roles, I’ve had the opportunity to do what I love while also creating IT solutions that have changed the way businesses manage data and information in their operations. I created the first (multilingual SQL designer) in 2001 for one of the largest hardware producers in the world. My research areas of interest are Technology Innovation, Emerging Technologies, Resource Management, Operational Efficiency and Project Management. In addition to reading and research, I like various sports like tennis, football, cricket, table-tennis, cycling.
