Madel Joubert
Senior Lecturer and Academic Librarian

I have worked in a natural history museum as a fossil preparator, photographer and research assistant and in marketing and student recruitment. I have also taught learners ranging from 3-years to 65-years of age in formal and informal environments for 20 years: in a Montessori pre-school, a discovery room in a natural history museum, the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town, schools in South Korea, primary and high schools in South Africa and in Bloomsbury Institute.
Interests
I am fascinated by how people learn. Teaching and learning are complex activities, but I relish the challenge of creating environments where people can overcome barriers, experience ‘aha moments’, develop skills and have fun. I love gardening, hanging out with my friends, family and cats and ‘playing tourist’ in the UK. I am fascinated by neurodiversity, marine invertebrates and cartilaginous fish and like listening to Mozart operas, cycling and reading.
