Launchpad – welcoming our academic community back to campus

Wednesday 29th September 2021

On 15 September, our brand-new Launchpad event brought together Bloomsbury Institute staff to re-connect and prepare for the 2021 – 22 academic year. Throughout the day, we explored our values, ethos and ambition – and showed off our new building at 373 Euston Road.

Our Managing Director and Academic Principal, John Fairhurst, opened the event by taking us through our strategic vision for the next few years. Bloomsbury Institute is going through an incredible period of growth, and John showcased the many exciting opportunities ahead of us, including our new teaching and office space in the heart of central London and the opening of a Centre for Community Engagement and Learning (CCEL).

Following this was an interactive session looking at how we can bring our values to life.  Lydia Hesketh, Head of Communications, and Henry Playfoot, External Advisor to Bloomsbury Institute, explored the importance of our values and how they are intrinsic to everything that we do. With this in mind, they asked staff what makes a healthy and productive workplace, sparking an interesting debate around behaviours, and collaborative and colligative working.

Sarah Bailey, Director of Student Engagement, Wellbeing and Success, and Anna Krajewska,  Head of the School of Business and Accounting,  explored growth mindset. Through their powerful and uplifting talk they highlighted how, with a growth mindset, the challenges we face can be seen as an opportunity to learn, grow and transition. A growth mindset is about lifelong learning, not shying away from making mistakes and persevering through the tough times.

Bloomsbury Institute Staff at Launchpad

What makes Bloomsbury Institute unique is our students and our relationship with them. They are are our partners to succeed. Bloomsbury Institute staff had the privilege of hearing from students at Launchpad, and their thoughts on how we can continue to provide the highest quality of teaching. The Student Guild also shared their goals for the next year, and what new activities will be available for the student body.

Launchpad inspired and prepared us for the exciting year ahead, welcoming our academic community back to campus and the Bloomsbury Institute experience.
