Bloomsbury Radio: New programmes and updates

Bloomsbury Radio officially launched just over a year ago, and since then the station has grown popular with staff and students, as well as the wider Bloomsbury community.

After successfully completing this year’s Radio Training Programme, there have been lots of exciting developments thanks to the ‘Radio Graduates’.

Firstly, we’re delighted to announce the launch of a new weekly Reggae music show every Sunday at 10am.

Sunday Morning Reggae with Calvin is produced and presented by student Calvin Taffe.

Calvin is a natural behind the mike and brings a wealth of knowledge on Reggae music to the station. He sets each song in context, highlights influences from other genres and effortlessly helps us wake up to Sunday mornings.

May’s Lunchtime Dialogue will see student Anca Iacob sit in the presenter’s chair to interview Adrian Tuitt.

Adrian is a motivational speaker and Managing Director of ‘The Little Runners Sports in Schools’. In his work he brings together the worlds of physical fitness and mental wellbeing to build resilience and success in the lives of the young people he works with.

You can hear Anca’s interview with Adrian just after the 1pm news on Wednesday 5 May.

And finally, everyone who heard Victorita Onofrei’s recitation of Wordworth’s Daffoldils will be delighted to hear she returns at the start of May with her recitation of Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18.

Rough winds might shake the darling buds of May, but nothing shakes this presenter in her beautiful rendering of this ancient verse. Victorita’s Poem of the Week is broadcast after the main national and international news on the hour each day.
