An Advance HE Accreditation is a ‘badge of quality’ and a huge achievement for any institute. It demonstrates the professionalism our staff bring to teaching and the support of student learning, and has many benefits for lecturers and tutors who enrol on the programme:
- In-Bloom raises the standards of teaching and encourages good practice
- Provides a structured approach to the development, recognition and reward of our staff who teach and/or support learning
- Enables staff to gain professional recognition for their successful professional practice.
In-Bloom also confirms that the professional development opportunities we have on offer for staff meet the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).
The UKPSF is a nationally-recognised framework for benchmarking success within higher education, specifically teaching and learning support. Only institutes who embed the UKPSF within policy and strategy and indicate a clear commitment to the enhancement of teaching and learning are awarded the accreditation.
In-Bloom is accredited as meeting two of the four requirements of the UKPSF. This means that successful participants on In-Bloom will be eligible to either Associate Fellowship or Fellowship, entitling them to use post-nominals AFHEA or FHEA.
The Accreditation Panel also identified many areas of good practice in our submission and commended us on eight areas. These ranged from providing comprehensive and personalised support for staff, to professional development activities supporting our commitment to widening participation, engagement and inclusivity.
