Judicial Review – Update

Tuesday 22nd October 2019

In July the Office for Students (OfS) refused Bloomsbury Institute’s application to join their Register.

We were bitterly disappointed by this decision and believe that the OfS failed to consider the fact that, unlike most traditional colleges and universities, many of our students come from backgrounds that make it harder for them to succeed.

They also failed to recognise the quality of our courses or the level of support Bloomsbury Institute offers to those who need it.

We weighed up our options and decided to challenge this decision in the courts. We have now been granted permission by the High Court to take the OfS to Judicial Review, and the case will be heard in February 2020.

We hope this action results in a fairer assessment of Bloomsbury Institute and helps other providers who, like us, are committed to supporting people who are all too often excluded from higher education.
