Help raise money for the Santa Maria Education Fund

Monday 20th May 2019

For the past 4 years, students and staff at Bloomsbury Institute have been supporting and raising money to help a charity very close to our hearts, the Santa Maria Education Fund in Paraguay.

Like Bloomsbury Institute, the Santa Maria Education Fund believe everyone has the right to an education, whatever their background. And they are dedicated to offering poor students in the town of Santa Maria de Fe an education free of any costs. They provide scholarships to universities, pay course fees and are committed to enabling students with potential to continue and thrive in their studies, no matter the price.

At the beginning of June, Cal, our Director of Student Engagement, Wellbeing and Success (SEWS), will be embarking on a 120 km walk along the Camino Ingles to mark the memory of his dear mum and to raise money for the Santa Maria Education Fund.

Here’s what Cal has to say about his inspiration to walk the old pilgrim route:

‘My mum loved hearing about the Santa Maria Education Fund and seeing how so many children and young people were being helped through the power of education, something at the core of who we are and what we do at Bloomsbury Institute.

Walking through the hills of northern Spain while raising a few quid for the Santa Maria Education Fund seems like a fitting way to remember a dear and cherished mum whose love and kindness is still alive in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.’
