From 1 July 2021, all international students who have successfully achieved a UK bachelor’s degree can apply for the new Graduate route.
Those on the Graduate route will be able to work or look for work after their studies for a maximum period of 2 years (3 years for PhD students).
To qualify for this route, you will need to meet the below criteria:
- successfully completed one of our degree courses
- valid permission to stay in the UK under the Student or Tier 4 route at the time of the application
- no access to public funds
You do not need to show your living costs for your visa application, but you will need to know the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) you used for your most recent student application.
The visa application costs £700, plus £1,248 for the Immigration Health Surcharge for the two years, which is £624 per year.
You do not need a job offer to apply for the Graduate route. You can do any kind of work except working as a professional sportsperson or coach and you will also be able to switch jobs without informing the UKVI.
You will not be able to extend this visa and this route does not lead to settlement, but at the end of the two years you can switch into other immigration routes. These include the Skilled Worker, Global Talent or the Innovator routes, all of which lead to settlement. You will be able to make the application from within the UK.
