Need help fine-tuning your essay or presentation? Whatever grade you’re currently on and and would like to achieve, we can help you improve in a range of academic areas.
Academic Skills
You can come to see us for academic skills development support. We deliver this support face-to-face and electronically through one-to-one and small group sessions. The sessions cover topics such as:
- Formality in academic writing
- Delivering effective presentations
- Structuring an academic essay
- Editing and proof-reading
- Writing effective introductions and conclusions
- Researching and taking notes effectively
Academic skills sessions take place on a Mondays.
Academic Language
These workshops focus in on the language that you need to write and discuss issues in an academic environment. The sessions cover topics such as:
- Sentence structure
- Academic vocabulary
- Using linking words
- Common language errors
Academic language sessions take place on Tuesdays.
Please note: Academic skills and academic language sessions are two hours long. The first hour will be tutor-led and the second hour is an opportunity for you to ask questions and practice the area covered by the session.
