Mark was founding and managing partner of Berley Chartered Accountants in 1985. Berley had two partners with twenty-five professional staff in London. The firm was one of the first independent London firms to outsource to India in 2005. Berley was a general practice, although specialising in advising SME clients taking a holistic approach to their affairs. Mark, with his passion, to travel set up the firm’s informal international association with other accounting firms in twenty locations which covered five continents. He was instrumental in Berley being the first accounting member of an international legal network with ninety members, in the belief that multidisciplinary firms was the future for the professions. Mark has lectured to other accountants in the United Kingdom, America and South Africa on practice marketing and practice management for over 30 years. Berley was sold to a consolidator in February 2021.
Since February 2021, Mark has taken on several non-executive directorships / consultancy positions using his wealth of commercial and tax knowledge covering the following sectors:

Interests
Apart from being passionate about travel Mark, has interests in various sports including golf, skiing, road cycling, scuba diving, clay pigeon shooting, padel tennis and high-altitude trekking. Being a family man, he loves spending time with his three granddaughters. He has been involved in raising substantial sums for various charities, over the years and continues to do so.
Qualifications
Mark is still a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales but, having retired from public practice, he has withdrawn his membership of various other professional organisations.
Mark is a great believer of education for all ages in the belief that if you give a man a fish, he will have a meal, if you teach him how to fish, he will never go hungry.
