Bloomsbury Institute London is proud to share that Bloomsbury Radio was shortlisted for the ‘Empowering Student Voice’ award at this year’s Independent Higher Education (IHE) Awards. The station was one of only three shortlisted in this competitive category, highlighting the exceptional work being done to amplify student voices and support meaningful engagement.

Although Bloomsbury Radio didn’t win the award, being recognised at this level is a significant achievement and something the whole Institute community can be proud of.
Bloomsbury Radio has been broadcasting since 2018, serving the communities of Bloomsbury, Fitzrovia, and King’s Cross, while giving students the opportunity to experience community broadcasting and develop skills in public speaking, news-gathering, and a wide range of transferable abilities.
The station offers a diverse mix of music, hourly news updates, sports, and entertainment, with programming that shines a spotlight on culture, society, education, and employment, all from a higher-education perspective.
Although we didn’t win this time, being shortlisted for the Empowering Student Voice award is something we should all feel proud of. It reflects the passion, creativity, and hard work that goes into Bloomsbury Radio every day.
I want to recognise and thank Barra for his exceptional contribution. From leading the radio station with energy and creativity to supporting and empowering students, he plays a key role in shaping an inclusive and engaging student experience. His efforts also strengthen our brand and visibility across the sector.
Bloomsbury Radio continues to provide a platform where students can develop their skills, share their perspectives, and connect with their community. This shortlisting celebrates the dedication of everyone involved and the station’s ongoing commitment to empowering student voice.
