Learning Enhancement and Employability

Welcome to Learning Enhancement and Employability (LEE). We’re Anne and Donna, and we’ll be helping you make the most of your studies and prepare for life after graduation.

This year we’ve expanded and re-named StudyPlus, and added an employability strand to make LEE. We’ll continue to help you with academic skills and academic language, with extra support aimed at helping you develop transferable skills and secure employment.

LEE will be delivered in two main ways: short classroom visits, and workshops and events which you can sign up to.

Classroom visits cover areas such as:

  • Introduction to Learning Enhancement, Bloom Bites and BOLD (our online library and databases)
  • Understanding an Assessment Brief
  • Recognising and responding to feedback
  • Referencing support
  • Understanding how your degree classification is calculated.

Academic skills workshops cover areas such as formality in academic writing and evaluating academic sources (texts). Academic language workshops cover areas such as sentence structure and common language areas.

We will also be running workshops on employability focused areas such as CV and cover letter writing and help with job applications. Employability support will be delivered through the Leadership, Employability and Awareness Development (LEAD) program which will include short visits to your lectures.

We’ll be available throughout the year to help with academic skills and employability. Find out more about how we can help you below.

We look forward to working with you all. If you need any advice or would like to find out more, you can email us on: lee@bil.ac.uk. And to book an appointment, head to the Learning Enhancement page on Canvas.
