Noor Jhaveri

Role: Non-Executive Director

Having qualified as a chartered accountant in South Africa in 2003, I moved to the UK and joined Ernst & Young in London. I progressed to senior manager within the National Growth Markets division focusing on a diverse range of clients including two publicly listed UK businesses. In addition to my operational and technical responsibilities, I was a coaching champion focused on developing Ernst & Young’s strategy for recruiting a more diverse work force.

In 2007 I joined Ricoh Europe PLC, as Group Finance and Reporting Controller. I was responsible for management and operational reporting across the EMEA division which contributed £3 billion pounds of turnover to the Group. I managed a head office team of ten people who were responsible for consolidating the finances and management reporting within the EMEA division and then presenting it to the parent company in Japan.

In 2010 I set up my own business with a focus on property, education, retail and more recently medical. Through my various executive and non-executive directorships, I am involved in overseeing business assets of £150 million.

I joined Bloomsbury Institute as a Non-Executive Director in 2016, during which time I undertook the role of interim Finance Director when the position became vacant.

I am passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion, and in particular disability within education and the workplace.

My passion is driven by two significant life experiences.

Growing up in apartheid South Africa and then witnessing the transition out of apartheid as I entered university has taught me how integral education is to an individual’s life chances. I was born significantly visually impaired and felt how society at the time did not accept that people with disabilities could succeed, and I have witnessed how that has evolved significantly.

However, there is a significant amount of work that still needs to be done, which is why I am so enthused to be associated with Bloomsbury Institute that places equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything it does.
