If you hold a HND (Higher National Diploma) in Business or a related subject and you’d like to achieve a full honours degree in just a year, we’ve designed our Top-up BA (Hons) Business Management for you.
You will complete the course over two semesters, taking two modules in each semester.
In the first semester, you will learn the concepts and practice of strategy, enterprise and innovation, and explore critical issues in business management. In the second semester you will take one option module, that includes the option to take an internship. You will also complete a research project, supported by an academic supervisor.
We’ll help you achieve your own objectives by teaching real-life business situations and through case study analysis, as well as hosting discussions with guest speakers.
Please note: our courses are taught face-to-face, and we plan to deliver all classes in-person. Depending on Government guidelines and Covid-19 restrictions, we may have to hold classes online. Throughout your studies you’ll be taught via three methods: lectures, workshops and seminars. Expect to hear interesting talks, participate in debate and conversation and apply your knowledge in a practical way.
Assessments come in a mix of formats, also depending on your chosen options. These include essays, portfolios, exams, reports, group presentations and case studies.
We use a range of new and traditional assessment methods to allow you to explore and express your abilities. They are not just a way of assessing whether something has been learned, but an opportunity to develop skills that will equip you in your life outside of university.
We aim to provide all the support you need to make sure you have the confidence and understanding to engage with your assessments. Our tutors are specialists in providing support to students who may feel unconfident in an academic environment.
Assessment and feedback are designed to make sure our teaching is effective. We adapt our teaching and learning methods to suit you, offering you a high quality and stimulating educational experience.
Pearson or SQA HND in Business. An equivalent Level 5 qualification awarded by bodies such as ABE, CIM, NCC, ATHE may also be accepted.
We also accept comparable overseas qualifications, such as the Chinese Dazhuan Diploma.
Applicants who have successfully completed the first two years of a three-year degree, or three years of a four-year degree may be eligible.
If you are an international student, you will need to pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) approved by the UKVI unless you are exempt.
WORKING IN THE UK
International students studying with us can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full time during the holidays.
From 1 July 2021, all international students who have successfully achieved a degree with us can also apply for the new Graduate Route. Those on the Graduate route will be able to work or look for work after their studies for a maximum period of 2 years. More information here.

You will have the opportunity to take a 30-credit Consumer Behaviour module as a Level 6 option. Consumer buying behaviour is a complex activity. It is influenced by many environmental factors, and has more recently placed the consumer at the centre of the marketing concept. As a result, it is not entirely a rational decision-making process, as it is made even more complex by the growing levels of interaction and interlinkages of attitudes, perceptions, behaviour and culture of conflicting consumer segments. As the process of consumer buying behaviour becomes more and more complex, it has become necessary for marketers to become more proactive in dealing with this complex consumer behaviour.
Students will also complete a research project across the year.
Strategy, Enterprise and Innovation is a Level 6 module that provides students with a general understanding of the nature of entrepreneurial opportunity recognition and the need for innovation and creativity. The module explores enterprising behaviour within the context of large organisations (including both private and public organisations, as well as those in the third sector) and small businesses.
Cross Cultural Management is an optional module available at Level 6 that delves into the global nature of modern organisations. It explores the requirement for successful managers to both understand the various cultural differences across markets and spheres of activity and to adopt flexible methods of thinking and behaviour when managing staff and other stakeholders. This module aims to explore the theory base surrounding cross-cultural management and to critically examine the various management frameworks available to management.
All students will have the chance to become a member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). You can get access to hundreds of CMI learning materials to support your studies and career aspirations.
When you graduate, you will have the knowledge and experience to work in a range of industries and roles. Our alumni have become human resource managers, operations managers, brand managers and business development managers. Many also choose to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities, setting up their own businesses such as GoLocate – an asset tracking technology funded by our incubator programme.
