I lead Advance HE’s consulting and insight practice, providing tailored services and support to higher education providers across the UK and internationally. As part of this I oversee work on governance effectiveness, supporting the Boards and Executive teams of many institutions, as well as leading action to improve board diversity and inclusion nationally.
With a background in higher education funding, regulation and policy from nearly 15 years at the Office for Students and its predecessor HEFCE, I am passionate about good governance, inclusive leadership, and the student experience. I also have over 10 years of experience on the boards of various education providers.
Interests
I am particularly motivated by improving board diversity and inclusion, drawing on younger and more diverse perspectives on the student experience and what it means to be a successful and sustainable organisation in today’s climate. Outside of work, I am a supporter of the charity Parkinson’s UK, which works to understand the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world and which affects four of my close family members.
I am also an enthusiastic grower, jam-maker and Northern Soul dancer (the latter despite coming from Cornwall!).
