Dr Julian Sims

I am currently Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Bloomsbury Institute. I have extensive experience in teaching and learning in accounting and finance, as well as information systems and software engineering having entered academia after a career as a Manager and Consultant in private industry in the USA and UK.

Previously, I was Programme Director for the Cultural Business and Management Cluster in the Business School for the Creative Industries, University for the Creative Arts. I have also been the Course Leader for Central Saint Martin’s/ Birkbeck, University of London MBA. Prior to becoming Course Leader, I was the Senior Lecturer, PG and UG Exams Officer at Birkbeck which entailed making student progression and degree award decisions; deputising for PG and UG programme directors to run exam boards and authoring school assessment regulations. Co-currently, I also Chaired the Mitigating Circumstances Committee, and sat as a Member of the Academic Board, College Board, programme validation committees, and academic appeals panels.

Interests

My research and publications have been in accounting and financial management, information systems (IS) social media and strategy. Publications include 18 journal articles and 34 peer-reviewed conference papers, two book chapters and a book with more articles in the pipeline. I have been the editor and reviewer for several international journals and conferences.
