Cal Courtney

Cal joined Bloomsbury Institute in 2014 and has worked in a variety of senior management roles within the organisation. In 2015 he established SEWS as a one-stop-shop student support centre, placing student wellbeing at the heart of the services we offer. He was responsible for establishing the Independent Student Guild in 2017, a truly pioneering venture for an independent HE provider and one that has enormously enhanced the student experience here. In 2020 he founded Bloomsbury Radio, which he continues to lead in addition to other responsibilities.

In January 2023 he joined the Senior Leadership Team as Deputy CEO. He is responsible for strategic planning around external relations and brand. In his capacity as Director of Community Engagement and Learning he leads on supporting communities and building partnerships as part the institute’s civic engagement.

Interests

Cal loves the natural world and all things wild. He is the proud custodian of an emerging woodland and during his time off he can be found planting trees.
