Trevor Bolton

I started my career in the merchant shipping industry before moving into education, working mainly in universities. I ‘retired’ in 2019 as a University Pro-Vice Chancellor and since then, I have developed a portfolio career, running my own growing consultancy practice, and serving on several boards. I joined the Board of the Bloomsbury Institute in July 2021.

In my other governance roles, I have been involved in activities such as Capital Investment Planning, a Chief Executive appointment, College Merger and the growth of a Multi-Academy Trust. I have also served on Audit and Risk Committees, Remuneration Committees and Estates Committees.

Interests

My professional interests include transnational education, the relationship between public and private further and higher education institutions in the UK and overseas, as well as public-private collaboration. My consultancy practice operates within these areas.

I have published a number of books, papers and articles and have appeared in print and broadcast media on several occasions.

In my private life, I maintain a modest vegetable garden, I read widely, and I support the arts whenever I can. I enjoy travel and have been fortunate enough to visit many countries – there are a good number more on my ‘to visit’ list.
